Bay pelmets made easy !

Learn how to make and fit bay pelmets with this easy guide. Just follow these easy steps to make it happen for you. This is for anyone who wants a top treatment but don't want anything fancy.

Take a look at this bay pelmet below I fitted recently. Nice simple clean lines. This pelmet has a rope trim top and bottom that co-ordinates with the tassel tie backs.

Want to see a fantastic Bay window success story. Then come back and read this page a couple of times. Then print it out for handy reference.

Trimmings for that special finishing touch.

You can add some interest by adding a bullion fringe trimming or some decorative beading to the bottom edge of your bay pelmets. Maybe to co-ordinate with some tie backs. This can create a theme for other things in the room.

Now.."The how to"

Below are some simple drawings to show you each step. Just take a look then go and get started.

The first step is the top boards if not
sure about these click HERE to open
a new window. When done just close it
and carry on to making your pelmet.

Lining your pelmet.

Follow the drawing and folding in the ends of the lining fabric. Then attaching the lining fabric to the bottom edge of the pelmet by stapling thru the cardboard strip.

Then folding over the lining fabric. The cardboard strip gives a nice straight edge to the bottom edge of your lining fabric. Next trim your lining just short of the top of your pelmet. Then staple on the velcro tape just covering the trimmed edge of your lining fabric just short of the top of your pelmet.

If you arrived here from the 5 sided pelmet link then read this page from the top. The only thing you need to add is 2 extra panels in your pelmet to allow for the extra sides.

Above was the simple straight bay pelmet. Next something a bit more adventurous.

There you have it a simple mutli sided pelmet. Once you get the hang of it you can try your hand at something more adventurous such as this shaped bay pelmet. Click on image for larger picture.

Fitting your pelmet !

You will need a hand fitting this length of pelmet. Get someone to hold one end, then start with the other end and slowly push the velcro tape on your pelmet onto the velcro tape on the leading edges of the top boards.

It will take a bit of time to make all this come together but it will be worth it when you see the finished result. Why not print this page out and have a go today.
