My Top 5 Bay Window Treatment Ideas

Take a look below at my top 5 bay window treatment ideas. Most people worry to much about bay window treatments and how to make them look good. The truth is they are not that much different from other windows. It just takes a little thinking about and planning before you start your window treatments for bay windows.

Another thing to think about as well as your curtain ideas is the bay window curtain rod. Assuming you are having curtains rather than fabric roman shades or blinds. A lot of people like to hang a window treatments valance in their bay window. Others prefer a window cornice or maybe you want to really dress your bay up with swag curtains.

So enough rambling on from me....

Here are my top 5 bay window treatment ideas

Bay pelmets/cornice

bay window treatment ideas

These bay pelmets are my personal favorite they take a bit of planning and preperation but are very simple. you need to fit cornice boards over your window, then everything else hang from this. Your bay window curtain rod fixes under the cornice board and the pelmet/cornice fixes to the front edge of the cornice board. Again my preference is for a straight finish.

Bay window valance

The picture above is of pinch pleated drapes....welll that's a little fib now I think about it, the window valance has a goblet pleat curtain style. Again this one is all fitted to a cornice board exactly the same as the window treatment above. So this is a classic example of pinch pleat drapery at its best. THe curtains are hung from corded curtain rods for ease of use.

Bay Swag curtains

Yet again these swags valance are hung from a simple cornice board. They are not to everyones tasre you either love them or hate them. In the right decor in the right style home they will look fabulous. Each swag is sewn seperately then pinned to the top board to create this look.

Roman shades in a bay window

Fabric roman shades such as these are great when you don't want a lot of curtain fabric on your window. These custom roman shades look really smart in any room. They suit windows with obstructions under the window, where curtains would drape awkwardly over large radiators or furnture. If you have naughty pets :-) then these could be the answer. Take a look at these discount roman shades

scarf window treatments in a bay

Scarf swags can be made to fit any shape window. The really great thing about this top treatment is they are so simple. Just a long length of fabric hemmed all the way round. This example is draped over 3 curtain rods simply pushed together in the corners then covered with the scarf swag. It does take a fair amount of time to tease the swag in to position and get it hanging just right. The faux silk curtains are just to dress the window and don't close. Behind the curtains are 3 working roller shades for privacy.
