Can wood window blinds be lengthened?

by Teri
(Sacramento)

The blinds from my previous home are the perfect width for some of my windows; however, they are about four inches too short. Is there a way they can be lengthened/slats added? If so, do you know what type of business does this work?

Thanks,
Teri in Sacramento

Hi Teri

Unfortunately you cant lengthen these blinds. You have the problem of finding the right color slats and ladder strings. Also the labor charge to disassemble and rebuild you blinds would be prohibitive.

The only possible thing you could do is fix the blinds under a pelmet/cornice or a valance of some kind.

This way you could try and mount the blinds lower then disguise the fact by covering the top of your blinds. Obviously without seeing the windows I can't say for sure if this would work.

If that idea really does not appeal to you then new wood venetian blinds will be needed.
