I have vertical blinds attached the ceiling i now want to put up curtains on the bay window. What i cant get my head round is how does the top of them hang without them curling over. What kind of pole do i need as it is a stud ceiling.

thanks

jane

Hi Jane

I personally would not fit a bay pole if you are going to use the curtains. As in opening and closing them every day.

These bay poles never work well even the hideously expensive custom made ones. If you are only using the bay pole and curtains to decorate your window then fine go for it.

To your question about the curtains curling over. If you hang them from the ring on your pole. Then you need your curtain hooks in the top pocket on the curtain tape. This means they will hang under the ring on your pole.

If you want your curtains to hang very close to the ceiling then you will need to hang your curtains from a curtain track not a pole. I have put a link below to ebay that shows the kind of track you would need to fit a bay window.

This track also has the kind of hooks that will make the header on your curtain stand upright and hang very close to the ceiling.

flexible bay window curtain track

I like to fit fabric covered pelmets on bays as it hides the curtain tracks and frames the windows. If this idea interests you then take a look at my page on Bay pelmets.
