Bay Window Curtain Poles![]() |
Bay Pelmet/Cornice![]() |
| A simple look to your bay window. Beware though these rods are not that simple to fit. I would seriously reccomend you get someone to help you fit it or employ a professional. You could always hang and dress your curtains afterwards. I'm two thirds the way through fitting this window. | A simple 3 sided bay pelmet fitted with velcro tape to a 6 inch by 1 inch top board. Most people could do this themselves with some guidance. Notice the curtains are made with 2 colours the dark on the bottom gives the curtains an added dimension. Click on Bay pelmets. |
Traditional swags and Tails![]() |
Wide Bay Window![]() |
| These can look really dramatic in the right room. This room had old style french reproduction furniture. The curtains break onto the floor. The roman shades are used to cover the window. The swags and tails are fixed to the timber top board with staples. If you dont have enough room over the top. Then I use drawing pins (same ones as for Christmas decorations). Click on Traditional swags. | One of the biggest windows I have had to fit. The curtains are just to dress the window. There is not enough fabric in them to close. Behind the swags are working roman blinds. It does not matter how big or small your window. The process of putting your window treatment together remains the same (Just more swags on this one). Roman Blind With Mini Pelmet![]() |
Shaped Pleated Valance![]() |
| A very simple way to cover your window no fuss. The pelmet just finishes of the top. some people don't like to see the ends of the roman shade mechanism. Why not take a look at Making roman shades and have a go yourself.Click on here Roman shades. | a twist on an old theme, a gentle wave on the bottom of this triple pleat valance. This one is all fitted to the low ceiling in the bay window. I fitted 6 inch by 1 inch timber boards to the ceiling then hung the curtains from a track fitted under the board. Then fixed the valance to the 1 inch edge of the board with velcro tape. sometimes I simply staple in between the pleats to hold the valance up. |
Door Curtain![]() |
Tab Top Curtains![]() |
| The door opens outwards so you can have a pelmet over the top of your curtains. The curtains are held back with a big chunky tassel tie back. This gives the curtain a nice shape and also holds the curtain in place when the door is open. just in case the wind catches it. | Tab top curtains can look great when they are dressed into their pleats. The only problems start when you open and close them on a daily basis. They end up looking scruffy with the tabs all bunched up. On this window the curtains are dressed behind the matching wooden hold backs. Notice the simple roller blind for privacy. That's it for curtain ideas with pictures 3 on this page. either love it or hate it. |
