How to hang a loose curtain lining

Hanging a loose curtain lining

Foxy

I have just bought curtains and blackout lining, both of which have those runner threads at the top.How do I attach the lining to the curtain before hanging them? Thank you!

Hi Foxy

If you check my How to hang curtains page it deals with the gathering of your window treatments. I have not done any info on hanging loose linings into your existing curtains yet so here goes.

Once you have gathered your curtains and linings to the required width. The next thing to do is lay your curtain face down with the curtain tape up. Then lay your blackout lining on top face down. You should find that your blackout lining is a little shorter than your curtain. So move it down a little so you can see the top top 2 hook pockets on your curtain tape just covering the last row of hook pockets.

Next step is to use the standard curly plastic curtain hooks. Sort of side on to the curtain line up the first hook pocket on the curtain and the lining. Get them so one sits on top of the other. Then put the hook into the bottom of the bottom pocket and push up, then keep pushing up all the way into the pocket above. when through both pockets twist the hook over as normal again sort of side on.

You repeat this across the curtain every 4th pocket. You will then have the lining fastened into your curtain. To hang the curtain use a second set of curtain hooks in the either 2 rows of pockets above.

Hope this makes sense for you, if not let me know.
