Help with very high walls and lots of windows - Debbie South Africa

Hi, I have a big problem. We moved into our new house 18 x months ago and still do not have curtains for our bedroom.
The problem is the height of the ceiling, the room is pretty square and had wooden framed windows on 3 of the walls taking up just about the entire walls. There is also a double glass door opening onto the balcony. The door sits next to the one window.
The measurement from the floor to the top of the windows is 2m, however from the top of the window to the ceiling is a further 2m ( so a total of 4m from floor to ceiling).
I have a brushed suede fabric that I want to use as curtains. I am not sure how high above the top of the window I need to go with the rail? I am worried things will look disproportionate ?
I am also not sure maybe a fake blind to try make the windows look higher? I have attached a pic showing the height from above the window to the ceiling. I am really clueless and help is urgently needed !! Please let me have your ideas and suggestions. Kind Regards, Debbie
Hi Debbie
What high ceilings you have there. In truth you are not going to make the windows look that much higher in relation to the ceiling height.
So my advice is don't try, having said that you could fit deep pelmets or valances over the windows. You could make these 45cm deep and they would still be in proportion to your floor length curtains.
This would be about the most you could do to raise the height of your window treatments any more would just start to look really odd.
I think you are worrying needlessly over the space over your windows. I think once you have curtains and some kind of top treatment over your windows it will be fine. Your eye will be more drawn to the window treatments than the ceiling height.
So enjoy your great high ceilings and just dress your windows as per normal.
If you want to see what pelmets would look like over your windows. then take a look at Pelmets
Best regards
Lee
