How to acheive full looking curtains?

I want full looking curtains that look like there is an underskirt behind them, especially when gathered but don't know what to do to achieve that look. Can you help?

I am not completely sure what you mean so if I am way off the mark then please let me know.

Right I think you mean lines curtains. This is where you have the curtain fabric, the one you see when looking at the curtains from inside the house.

Then you have the lining fabric usually in a cream or ivory colored fabric. This hangs on the back of your curtain and is seen when you look from the outside of your window.

If buying ready made curtains simply look for the label that says "Lined curtains" . If you fancy having a go at making your own lined curtains then check out this page below for some simple instructions.
