How to fit a curtain to inward opening windows?
by Rita Griffiths
(Halifax)
We have had new bedroom windows fitted which open inwards. Although there are venetian blinds over the glass I find they let in too much light. Problems.
There is only 3 inch above the window to rhe ceiling. When tilted the windows open inwards 6 inch and I would like to open the window at night. We only have a small bedroom and cannot afford the curtains to drape 6/8 inch away from the window. Any ideas please?
Hi Rita
I have come across this style of window a couple of times. Unfortunately there is no magic solution.
I can't understand why they make them like this. It makes it impossible to hang curtains above the window as you have found.
On the window I fitted last I fixed a roman blind over the window. Then fixed a stop inside the window recess. This stops the window opening to far and hitting the back of the blind.
I know it's not ideal but you don't realy have many options. Sorry to not be more help.
Best regards
Lee
