How to hang curtains on a triple window

by Kim

I recently rented an apt and they have 3 windows right in a row with about 8-10 inches in between. It is not a bay window.

I need advice on hanging curtains. I said go with the easy valance for each one but I need drapes for the sunlight.

Hi Kim

There are a few ways to dress this kind of window. As you said treat each one individually or treat them all as one window.

You could get a long rod and fit over all three windows and just use one wide pair of curtains. This can look really good with the right fabric, especially when you hang floor length curtains.

Another option is again to fit a long curtain rod over all three windows but then hang four curtains. Hang one pair each end of the rod, then hang the second pair in the spaces between the windows. This again can look
really good if the curtains are tied back.

If you prefer a valance then you could replace the rod with a long valance or 2 or 3 shorter valances put together. I personally like treating these kind of windows as one. It makes a real feature in the room.

Or how about something completely different "Roman shades" They can make a room look really modern and contemporary. They have clean lines and make your windows look less cluttered.

Best regards
