Easy Roman Shades
How I built it ?

I bought an expensive blind that is too short.

by CAT
(Topeka)

In having blinds made, I didn't notice that the salesperson wrote down the wrong length. After signing the invoice I am stuck with expensive blinds (empty budget). They are approx. 3 inchs too short.

My father-in-law thinks we can add a 3 inch board piece painted the same color as the trim and install it and the blind to my window frame.

Do you have any other thoughts or ideas that we should also consider?

I love the blinds otherwise they are bottom-up, top-down.

thank you very much for your time.

Signed,
Short and sad in Topeka.

Hi Cat

Don't be to sad your father in law is a smart man. He is doing exactly what I would do. Sort of anyway.

Great minds think alike or is it fools seldom differ. Let you decide on that one.

If your blinds are made of fabric then you could cover the pelmet board your father in law is planning to make with the same fabric. This will make it look as though it was designed to look this way.

So to recap fit your new blinds down 3 inches anyway you can. Then disguise this with a 5 or 6 inch pelmet board in front of your blind.

If unsure how to make a fabric covered pelmet board then check this page out Fabric covered pelmets

I'm sure it will all look great when finished.

Best Regards

Lee
