My best ideas for interesting window treatments

One persons "interesting" is another persons "what the heck you done there". So these ideas are what I find interesting ideas for creating a real focal point in your room. So why not have a go at putting together your own designer window treatments.

Tier curtains

I think my number one favorite way of creating interest is to layer a window treatment, also called tier window treatments. So what do I mean by that, well simply more than one thing on the window. Such as a fabric roman blind up against the window. Then a pair of curtains on a decorative curtain rod hanging in front. This gives more dimension to the window and creates a bit of character.

Double curtain rods

Another idea for interesting window treatments is to fit a double curtain rod. Then hang sheer panel curtains on the back rod. then hang a pair of main curtains on the front rod. This gives you the chance to use 2 different kinds of curtain fabric on the same window. While only having to fit one set of hardware (the curtain rod brackets). You can also get some really lovely coordinating embroidered sheers to complement your embroidered curtains.

Another extension of this curtain idea is if you are planning patio door window treatments or french door window treatments and your window is set back in a recess. You can then fit another slim curtain track into the top of the insde of the window recess. You can then hang a second set of sheer curtains in another colorway. This style really lends itself to being dressed into tie backs. Each curtain as you go back is dressed so it shows a little more than the one before it.

scarf window treatments

This time you will need to hang the sheer fabric in front of your other fabric window treatments ideas. Such as roman shades or pinch pleat drapery for example. The easy way to hang your sheer fabric as a scarf window treatment. Take a length of sheer fabric and drape it over a pole. With a scarf swag There are so many interesting ideas for window treatments so you will always find a style to suit your room and taste.

if you are hanging drapes then use a double curtain rod. This time use the back rod for the main curtains and the front rod for draping you decorative scarf swag. if you are fitting a shade or blind then a single curtain rod for your scarf swag will usually do the job.

sheer window treatments

sheer window curtains can really work wonders when used to disguise an ugly looking window blind or an unattractive window. fit a decorative curtain rod over your problem window then hang your sheer curtains. The trick is to keep them closed permanently.

So pick a sheer curtain fabric that is to dense it block too much light, but dense enough to disguise the window or blinds. This is an inexpensive window treatments idea as the sheers are inexpensive curtains. Also there are tons of discount curtain rods to be had on the internet today.

Fancy some really interesting ideas for window treatments then try the damask burnout pattern giving sheers the look of ornate lace. This alone can trasform the look of any window.

contemporary window treatments

Grommet top curtains are the latest thing in contemporary drapes, you can also get grommet top sheers as well. So fit a double curtain rod and have both sets of curtains in the same style. these modern drapes will give your room that cool trendy look with very little effort. Once your double curtain rod is fitted you simply thread the rods through the eyelet grommets is the tops of your curtain. So there is no gathering to do and no curtain hooks to worry about.

Some really interesting ideas for window treatments are panel track blinds

Vertical blinds standard choice for most people when it comes to patio door window treatments and french door window treatments. Almost every home with these style of windows has vertical blinds. They look ok, but they are just funtional and utilitarian. Some new ideas for interesting window treatments ares now available. Panel track blinds, also called slider panels or panel tracks. They are much more contemporary looking and will make your room look really cool and sophisticated.

So what are they and how do they work. You have a curtain track with several channels for gliders. Then from each of these channels you have a panel made of fabric or sometimes woven wood (bamboo). There are several panels that cover your window and overlap slightly. They all sit in there own channel so they can be pushed back to the side or sides. They all sit one in front of the other in the open position.
