Long curtain rods.......what's the answer ?

"long curtain rods or poles as they are sometimes called can be a real pain. You just cannot buy them anywhere"

What's the answer when you need long curtain rods to span a very wide window, or maybe hang a single curtain. Well the standard rods sometimes won't do the job. Maybe you don't want a very thick pole or they just still are not long enough.

Well you have 2 choices:

No.1 There are some curtain rod suppliers that have rods with special brackets and rings. These "passing brackets and open rings" are the answer. These allow the special open rings to pass over the passing brackets. For a pair of curtains you need to order 2 rods to meet in the middle of your window with a connector. Then 3 standard brackets (one for each end and one for the center).

Beware when hanging curtains on long curtain rods

If you fit your long rods then hang your curtains, the rods will sag between the brackets with the weight of your curtains. The answer is to fit a couple of the special "passing brackets" on each side. These are fixed evenly spaced between the standard brackets.

Even the longest pair of rods won't span my window !

Then the answer is to use 3 rods joined with 2 connectors. Just make sure that the 2 joins are supported by a bracket at the exact point they meet. 1. it looks better 2. it gives maximum support. You may need to cut the rods to make the joins fall in the right place for your brackets ( so your brackets are all evenly spaced).

Remember though you won't be able to make your curtain pass the brackets. You will need to hang 2 or 3 pairs of curtains to cover all the window.

Have a super wide window ?

Then the "Silent gliss" "metropole" is still the answer. By putting 2 long curtain rods together meeting in the middle of your window you can hang a pair of curtains on a window up to a maximum of 12 meters wide. Talk about mega structures.
