What kind of silk curtain should I choose ?

So is silk all the same ?

No, you have different grades of fabric. Usually the heavier the better. It tends to crease less (all silks cease to a lesser or greater degree).

Then you have the smooth looking fabric through to the heavier coarser fabric with slubs in the weave. In general these are not classed as faults, but part of the charm of the fabric. It gives the fabric a rich texture and is my favoriten (looks like it should look).

Why not have over long curtains ?

So how do they drape ?

As you can see in the picture this fabric drapes beautifully. I pleated the curtains then left them to hang freely. You can tie the curtains back, but some silks can crease badly. I recommend you test the fabric first if this is what you want to do.
