Velcro friendly tape

by joanne
(Kent)

Ive got to make a valance heading for windows in a caravan. The pelmet boards are already up and have velcro attached which is great, but not having done them this way before I am struggling. I need to attach tape to gather them but also need to attach velcro to hang them once gathered, not sure how to go about it or if I can buy a special heading tape?? Please help. Thanks jo.

Hi Joanne

You guessed right about there being a special curtain tape. It is called velcro friendly pencil pleat tape.

You sew it on to the top of your curtain as normal. You pull the cords just as you would normally. The big difference is that there are no pockets for curtain hooks. You have soft pads on the tape that stick to the hard velcro.

So once your valance is made and gathered you simply present it to the pelmet board and it sticks on like magic.

Most haberdashery and sewing stores will sell this curtain tape by the meter.

Best regards

Lee
