vertical blinds need to go

From the outside of my house it looks like a ranch style house, when you walk in the door you see a loft and the the all wood ceiling. I have decorated in a northwoods feel.

My problem is there is floor to ceiling windows in the front of the house . right now there is vertical blinds running the whole length of the house. this side of the house faces the street and another house. there is 3 sets of these blinds running 30 feet that covers 7 windows. help I hate them.

You may hate your vertical blinds but they are the best thing for such big windows. Everything else just does not do the job as well.

I don't know if simply a change of fabric would help you like them more or not ? Most blind makers would just change the strips.

Another option would be to have sheer curtains. they would give you day time privacy but would not be so good at night.

Just thought I once fitted sheer curtains on curtain rods that projected out far enough from the wall so they hung in front of vertical blinds.

This made the interior look softer and more appealing. Yet you can still keep the practicality of the verticals. You could keep the sheer curtains closed most of the time. You would still see a shadow of the blinds behind but it would be a lot better.
