How I built it ?

Where should the brackets go?

by Kelly
(Watford, Herts, UK)

I have 25mm pole cut to size so that I have 6" @ either end...I know it needs to be about the same distance above the window but where do the brackets go please?

Hi Kelly

I usually fit the top of the brackets 5 to 6 inches over the top of the window. As a rough rule of thumb I fit the pole half way between the ceiling and the top of the window. Or if you have a cornice then half way between this and the window.

It means that when you hang your curtains on the rings. That they come over the top of the window.
I think it looks really odd when you can see the top of the window between the curtain pole and the curtains when they are closed.

Sorry just realised your where maybe asking where the brackets go horizontally not vertically. If that is the case then if you are fitting 3 brackets.

You have one obviously dead centre. Then the side brackets I would fit between 3 to 4 inches past the window each side. This will allow you to fit your finial on each end and one ring past the bracket to act as the curtain stop when you draw your curtains.

Happy curtain hanging ;- )

Best Regards

Lee
