Hi,
My top of the window frame to my ceiling the measurement is 16 1/2 inch how many inches I should go above my window recess to look good.

Measurement from ceiling to floor is 96 inch.
my window measures side to side is 118 1/2 and top to bottom is 42 1/2 but i want my drapes down to my floor.
need your help....

If you are making the curtains or having them made. Then I would make them 85 1/2 inches long. This would mean they sit 6 inches over the top of your window recess.

If you are using ready made curtains. Then I would buy 84 inch drop curtains. Then they would sit 4 1/2 inches over your window recess.

This would still be okay but slightly higher would look that little bit better.

If I make it 87 inch is it too much.
Meaning 9 inch above my window frame.
From window frame to Ceiling is 16.50 inch

Hi Sima

The rule of thumb is to fit your rod half way. If you have some curtains that are 87 inches long that you want to use. Then I would not worry that it is going to be slightly higher.

You probably would not be able to tell just by looking unless you measured. A common problem is that many people fit their curtain rods to low. Often just an inch or two over the top of the window.
