"and why I decided to start this website about window treatments"

Hi, my name is Lee and have been a window treatment installer for around 20 years. I live with my family in Manchester UK.

I get to meet lots of great people (a few odd ones as well). I also get to hang some fabulous curtains in some fabulous homes.

I have fitted lots of curtains in simple homes (just like yours and mine) all the way to top London hotels to a royal residence (that shall remain nameless). I travel all over the UK hanging curtains and blinds. The work is varied and interesting

I've been involved in selling, making and fitting curtains. Over the last few years I have settled into just installing window treatments. This is simply because it's the part I enjoy the most

When not fitting window treatments I enjoy spending time with my family. We all like reading we also go to the cinema regular, we also enjoy getting out for walks in the nearby countryside.

....Trying something new

Going off the subject for a moment I bought a tent last year still not used it yet. I've not been camping since I was in the scouts (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth according to my daughter). Definitely going to make a trip out this summer. Will let you know how it goes.

camping update....August 2008

The first night we set up camp in France. Everything going well until the rain started. It kept on raining, raining and raining.

Well my better half said in the morning on a scale of 1 to 10, camping was a big ZERO. So we all packed up the car and headed deeper into France (all happy smiling faces, Not).

Then by day 3 after 2 gloriously sunny days my better half turned to me and said "can we come back here next year". Amazing what a little sunshine can do :-)

What do you do for a living ?

That's a question I get asked when meeting people socially. Then they go on to tell me about their problem window and what would I recommend. I know what doctors feel like now.

So I got to thinking about writing a book about designing, making and hanging window treatments. Giving step by step guides to help anyone have a go themselves.

So I did some searching on the web looking for some guidance myself. I typed into google "Information publishing" and got the results page with the first 10 listings. Mostly they were just big sales sites trying to sell me publishing software and domain hosting sites.

I was getting totally confused about where to start let alone what all the technical stuff they talked about meant. Then I clicked on the 5th or 6th listing on the google page. I began to read and read and read some more,.........so what was it ?

The solution to my problem

In one word SBI, what the hecks that you say. Well it was what I needed to turn what I do for a living into an information business. A website to be exact, but not any old website.

Before I started I knew nothing about the Internet or how to build a website. (Not the sharpest tool in the box :-) But I should not have worried they take care of all the technical stuff. Like programing and webdesign know how, leaving me to just write about what I know best.

So is it simple the answer is yes. Is it easy the answer to that is no. Just like anything else in life it will take effort and motivation on your part. This is especially true in the beginning.
