Window Treatment Suggestions
(Canada)
We have 3 windows which are all impossible to clean on the outside because of their locations and we will therefore be changing them to double tilt windows (some companies call these awning windows).
I have considered using swing-arm rods, but all 3 windows are quite tall and I would need to use a ladder to flip aside the curtains each time the windows would be opened.
How would you suggest I dress these windows? One is over my kitchen sink, one is on the landing between the 1st and 2nd floors and the third is in my second-floor bathroom.
Hi
None of these windows are in your living areas as in lounge or bedrooms etc.
So I think the most practical solution would be blinds. I would recommend pleating shades for all these windows. You would need to fit one to each individual window section.
Also you would need the kind that are fixed at the top and the bottom. The shade has clear wires running top to bottom so the blind stays with the window no matter what angle it is at. These are mostly used for glass roofs in conservatories.
On your very high window you will need whats called a want. Basically a pole with a kind of hook on the top. This will allow you to open and close the high window. I could not find any of this kind of blind in Canada or the U.S. I'm sure they must sell them, just by another name.
To see what they look like click on this link below. Then you may know the name to search for.
Pleating blinds
If that is not what you want mini blinds will do the job. You will need ask for bottom fixing brackets as well. This means the blinds are fixed in the down position permanently. You can only twist the slats open or closed. You could unclip them from the bottom brackets just for cleaning. Then clip them back in place for when the windows are tilted.
Hope this helps with this problem.
Best regards
